San
Augustine's Public Library was established in 1971 and just recently
underwent a complete modernization and enlargement project.
A much
larger building and computerization of the Card Catalogs helps
patrons of the Library find what they are looking for with ease and
the Card Catalog can now be accessed Online. The link is on the left.
The extra
room lends comfort to browse and read. And
room for a greatly increased book inventory.
The
Library now offers Broadband Internet access to the public on eight
state of the art computers in the Adult section and three supervised
computers especially set up by the Gates Foundation for children in
the dedicated Children's Room. Wireless access is also available.
The San
Augustine Library also offers Audio books and Video movies.
Our
Genealogical section is one of the best. The Library has MicroFilm
records and hard copy records available to the public to peruse and
search on the premesis. The library also has the complete archives of
the San Augustine Tribune newspaper dating from 1919 to 2003 on disk
which can be browsed on a computer terminal in the Genealogy section.
Copies of
records can be purchased on site and there is a research aid person
on duty in the Genealogical section at limited times. 5 hrs. per day
starting at 9 AM to 1 PM on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. |
