SERVICES AND POLICIES OF THE SAN AUGUSTINE PUBLIC LIBRARY


GENEALOGY

The library has a significant collection of genealogical and historical material that includes San Augustine Tribune issues on computer, microfilm files (census, local newspapers, and other types), family files, and a wide variety of books and other resources. Patrons can access the HeritageQuest database at the library. A staff genealogist is also available to assist with research questions at limited times. Call, write or email the library for more information on this service.


LIBRARY CARDS

It's free and easy. If you live in San Augustine, Shelby, or Sabine counties, all you need is a Texas Driver's License or Texas ID card and a piece of mail with your address on it. The address must match that on the license or ID card. Military ID is also accepted.

A fee of $5.00 will be charged to replace a lost card. Damaged cards will be replaced at no charge. The damaged card must be presented for a new one to be issued.


BORROWING

Books, audiobooks, and magazines can be borrowed for a period of two weeks. DVD's and videos are checked-out for one week. Items located in the Genealogy and Reference collections are for use only inside the library and are unavailable for check-out. Item limits per family or address are as follows:

RETURNS & RENEWALS

Items may be returned in person or placed in the book drop outside after hours. Renewals can be done in person or by phone. Patrons will be charged for unreturned, lost or damaged items including DVD's, Audiobooks, Books and Video cases.


DOCUMENT COPYING

The library has two copiers available for public use. They are located at the front desk and in genealogy.

The cost of double-sided copies is twice the amount shown below according to size. Color copies are also available at the front desk for 50¢.

INTERLIBRARY LOAN (ILL)

The Interlibrary Loan Program helps San Augustine Public Library provide cardholders with materials that are not in the library's collection, some restrictions apply.

In order to request ILL materials, patrons must be in good standing (i.e. have no pending fines or other charges) and have had a current and up-to-date library card for at least six months. Up to two ILL items may be borrowed at one time. Due dates are established by the lending library. A fine of 25¢ per day will be charged for overdue ILL items.


COMPUTERS & EQUIPMENT

Computers are available for public use at no charge. Please present a picture ID at the Front Desk to sign up.
There are also computers in the Children's area for anyone under 18.

Printouts from the computers are 10¢ for letter-sized and 20¢ for legal-sizes. Color printouts are 50¢.

An overhead projector and screen are available for a fee of $2.00 per day.


FAXING

Sending - $2.00 for the first page, $1.00 for each additional page.
Receiving - $1.00 for the first page, 50¢ for each additional page.


LAMINATING

Legal-sized (8½ x 14) or smaller documents can be laminated at any time during regular hours. Larger items and posters should be brought in before 3:00 pm on Tuesdays. Patrons will be notified the next day or when their documents are finished.
Cost is calculated at 10¢ per inch of the finished piece.
