SERVICES AND POLICIES OF THE SAN AUGUSTINE PUBLIC LIBRARY

GENEALOGY

The library has a significant collection of genealogical and historical material that includes San Augustine Tribune issues on computer, microfilm files (census, local newspapers, and other types), family files, and a wide variety of books and other resources. Patrons can access the HeritageQuest database at the library. A staff genealogist is also available to assist with research questions at limited times. Call, write or email the library for more information on this service.


LIBRARY CARDS

It's free and easy. If you live in San Augustine, Shelby, or Sabine counties, all you need is a Texas Driver's License or Texas ID card and two pieces of mail with your address on it. The address must match that on the license or ID card. Military ID is also accepted.

A fee of $5.00 will be charged to replace a lost card. Damaged cards will be replaced at no charge. The damaged card must be presented for a new one to be issued.

BORROWING

Books, audiobooks, and magazines can be borrowed for a period of two weeks. DVD's and videos are checked-out for one week. Items located in the Genealogy and Reference collections are for use only inside the library and are unavailable for check-out. Item limits per family or address are as follows:

The library has one copier available for public use. 

The cost of double-sided copies is twice the amount shown below according to size. Color copies are also available at the front desk for 60¢.

eBOOKS

As a member of the Piney Woods Digital Consortium, the San Augustine Public Library has joined with other local libraries to offer free eBooks to the community.
eBooks and Audiobooks can be downloaded using all types of Kindles, Nooks, iPads, and a wide variety of other e-readers and tablets. Please bring your device and library card with you in order to sign-up. Each patron will be issued an individual password allowing access to the Consortium's website and given a short tutorial on how to use it.
All eBooks and Audiobooks are available free of charge.

FREE WI-FI

Is available throughout the building.
After hours, it can still be accessed from the area immediately surrounding the library including the parking lots.


T-Mobile Hotspots

Patron must have library card for 3 months and in good standing before checking out  T-Mobile hotspots.
Check out period is 1 week Maximum,  consecutive check out is  2 times.
Patron will be charged $150 if hotspot is damaged or lost.
Library staff will check condition of Hotspot upon return.


RETURNS & RENEWALS

Items may be returned in person or placed in the book drop outside after hours. Renewals can be done in person or by phone. Patrons will be charged for unreturned, lost or damaged items including DVD's, Audiobooks, Books and Video cases.


INTERLIBRARY LOAN (ILL)

The Interlibrary Loan Program helps San Augustine Public Library provide cardholders with materials that are not in the library's collection, some restrictions apply.

In order to request ILL materials, patrons must be in good standing (i.e. have no pending fines or other charges) and have had a current and up-to-date library card for at least six months. Up to two ILL items may be borrowed at one time. Due dates are established by the lending library. A fine of 50¢ per day will be charged for overdue ILL items.


COMPUTERS & EQUIPMENT

Computers are available for public use at no charge. Please present a picture ID at the Front Desk to sign up.
There is also 1 computer in the Children's area for anyone under 18.

Printouts from the computers are 20¢ for letter-sized and 30¢ for legal-sizes. Color printouts are 60¢.
